Continuing our Richmond perspective

Favourite things to do:

Walking, cycling on oceanside and countryside trails … Steveston fishing village has  boardwalks along the water, close to the airport is Terra Nova where the snow geese below migrate through, Shell Road trail is along farmland where blueberries and cranberries grow

When it’s raining there is Riverport at Entertainment Way, a lot in one area … food, theatres, bowling, skating and swimming

Favourite Parks:

Minoru Park and Garden City Park are both beautiful parks in the city centre.  Other parks are great too, combining the green space from elementary schools, high schools, community centres and parks so there is a large green space for walking, cycling, etc.

Favourite place to shop:

Aberdeen, Lansdowne and Richmond Centre are all great malls along the handy Canada Line skytrain route or city centre bike path

Fruit & Vegetable or flower markets are everywhere because Richmond is known as the “Garden City”  Art Knapps is a great place to get flowers

Steveston with unique items in the quaint village

Favourite Events:

There are a lot of interesting events to go to which are advertised in the 2 Richmond newspapers, this one is watching the Mars Waterbomber demonstration of how it scoops up water to put out forest fires.

This one is the annual Christmas carol ships

Favourite Restaurants:

Japanese food – Matsuyama close to Lansdowne skytrain station

Greek food – Kisamos in Steveston

Indian food – Curry Express (fast food) inside Lansdowne Mall

Vietnamese food – Vina (fast food) inside Richmond Centre

Italian food – Spaghetti Factory at Entertainment Way … great for teens with big appetites

Fish & Chips (is that British, I think so!) – Pajo’s eat on the floating dock in Steveston

Swedish food – IKEA … shop and have those meatballs too

Favourite Canadian Moment in Richmond:

An impromptu neighbourhood skating party on a frozen field
